Berkhamsted School
Boys and girls are taught together until the age of 11 at the Pre-Prep and Prep, separately at 11 to 16 (at Berkhamsted Boys and Berkhamsted Girls) and then together for a joint Sixth Form. The other school in the group, Heatherton, is a prep school for girls aged 3 to 11 and boys 3 to 5.
The school was founded in 1541 by the then Dean of St Paul's Cathedral, John Incent. Berkhamsted aims to foster a spirit of adventure in pupils, offering a high quality education and care for boys and girls.
The school introduced a 'Building Learning Power' methodology 'to ensure pupils become confident, curious and independent learners – equipped with relevant habits and skills.' In addition, the school has three key values which are embedded at the heart of everything it does: aim high with integrity, be adventurous, and serve others.
The school is part of the Berkhamsted Schools Group, a registered charity managed by a board of governors. Read more on the Charity Commission website.
The school was last inspected in January 2022. Read the inspection reports on the school's website.
