18th August 2021 — Alderley Edge School for Girls is delighted for its Upper Sixth pupils who have achieved an excellent, and indeed record-breaking, set of A Level results. This year’s outstanding results have continued to reflect the successes of previous years with 66% of grades awarded A*/A and 82% of all grades awarded at A*/B. In addition, 43% of our Upper Sixth achieved a clean sweep of at least three A grades across the 20 subjects studied at AESG. These grades truly reflect our pupils’ resilience, commitment and dedication to their studies over the last two years.

Amongst the many success stories across our community are sisters Lara Coulter who achieved four A*s and can now look forward to reading Engineering at Durham University, and Ella Coulter, who has accepted a place at St Andrews University to read Medicine after achieving three A*s.

In addition, Head Girl, Florence Sabry achieved three A*s and will be reading English at Exeter University from September.

The School is incredibly proud of the way in which our Sixth Form community coped during the past two years and, although they did not have the opportunity to complete traditional examinations and demonstrate their abilities to external examiners, they excelled in their attitude towards remote learning and absolutely deserve their successes.

Nicola Smillie, Headmistress commented, “We are incredibly proud of our Upper Sixth girls who have continued to work incredibly hard during these unprecedented times. Their results are stunning and testament to the girls’ positive work ethic, resilience and determination. These excellent results will enable the girls to access a wide variety of courses at a range of prestigious universities. We wish them the very best in their future.”

Jess Billington, Head of Sixth Form added, “It has been a privilege to work with this year's Upper Sixth students and I am delighted by their impressive and very well-deserved results. They leave us for courses as diverse as Medicine, General Engineering, Fashion Management and Geography. This reflects the myriad talents of our students. They all have different interests and aptitudes, but they have been a close, caring community throughout their time in the Sixth Form. I know many have made lifelong friends and that they will maintain their connections with Alderley Edge School for Girls too. I look forward to hearing about the many successes that I know they will enjoy in the future.”
