The West Buckland School U15 girls tennis squad reached the last 16 teams in the country. Playing in the South West regional finals of the National Aegon Competition, they narrowly lost in the semi-final to Prior Park in Bath, despite the girls putting up a great effort and managing to take valuable points from their opposition.
In the 3rd / 4th play off against South Wiltshire Grammar, matches were even and our teams showed that they were not in any way outclassed at this level.
Evie Bishop lost narrowly in a tie break, while Chloe Parry, who was riding high on her birthday, made an amazing comeback from 1-4 down to win her singles game 6-4.
Mia Morris won her singles match 6-4, while Millie McLintock and Martha Macdonald narrowly lost their tie break, giving South Wiltshire the victory 4-2.
This was a significant milestone for the school’s tennis and was further evidence of the strength in depth of both the girls and boys teams.
