St Michael's Pupils Compete at Gothia World Cup

It's the world's biggest youth soccer event and two pupils from St Michael's Prep School in Otford were selected to play.

2nd October 2019 — With around 1,800 teams from around 85 countries, the Gothia World Cup saw two pupils from St Michael's Prep School in Otford selected to play for the Prep Schools' Pumas.

56,000 people, including parents, family and supporters were in the famous Ullevi Stadium in Gothenburg for the Opening Ceremony.

Year 8 pupil, E Hudson, was goalkeeper for his team, who played teams from Sweden and the United Arab Emirates in the group matches and two matches against English teams in the knockout stages. Old Michaelian G Schooley's team played teams from Sweden and the Lebanon in the group matches and a team from the USA in the knockout stages.

Trials for next season's Prep Schools' Pumas are taking place at Worth School on Sunday 6th October. Good luck to all St Michael's pupils attending!
