8th March 2021 — Every pupil at Westbourne House School returned to school today as primary and secondary school fully reopened for the first time since Christmas.

All 353 pupils from Nursery to Year 8 attended Westbourne House School in Chichester after weeks of anticipation.

Westbourne House School Headmaster Martin Barker said: "The children have been running around outside during break time and all I can hear is laughter and shrieks of delight.

"Today is all about letting our pupils celebrate being back with their friends and together as a school family."

He continued: "Some children were, of course, a little bit anxious, so we took things very gently to make sure everyone got back into the swing of things in their own time.

"I expect the children will be pretty tired tonight after such an exciting and momentous day.”

Deputy Head, Peter Fisher, said: "The testing at the end of last week went very smoothly – a testament to the great team of staff here at Westbourne House School, and it meant we started today safely and positively.

"It really is a joy to have the children back in school.”
