The newly formed Pre-Prep Eco Committee enjoyed a trip to the RSPB, Sandwell Valley to learn a little more about Biodiversity and in particular birds.

They spent the morning identifying different birds in their natural habitat during a wetlands walk and from inside the bird hide. The children loved learning how to use binoculars and discovering how to tell different species apart. They assimilated lots of informative facts about the species and also how to encourage more birds back at school. The group even learnt how to make different bird calls during a fun, final game!

Now the group are busy planning how to spread this wonderful knowledge to their classmates and are actively involved in setting up a Big Bird Watch at school in February.

About The Blue Coat School

The Blue Coat School is an Independent Day School and Nursery for Girls and Boys from 2-11. It was founded in 1722 and occupies a beautiful site in Edgbaston, Birmingham, in 15 acres of playing fields and gardens. We are a thriving community where the children are given every opportunity to achieve and excel. The goal here is to prepare our pupils to engage effectively with the dynamic world unfolding around them, equipping them with the skills and confidence to grasp their opportunities, and the knowledge and sensitivity to recognise their responsibilities.
