Image Description

29th September 2017 — We are delighted that award winning author, Dan Smith, will be Northcote Lodge’s Patron of Reading for 2017-18.

Dan has written books for adults and for younger readers. The latter include adventure stories set in World War 2, and thrillers which take place in the South American jungle and in Finland. Dan has signed up to be our Patron of Reading for the whole school year, which means that he will visit the school and engage with the boys on a continuing basis in collaborative writing workshops and feedback sessions. He has a new book coming out early next year, and we were lucky enough to get some sneak previews.

Dan’s first visit took place on Wednesday September 27th. He was at school for the whole day and all of the boys spent some time with him. The boys will benefit enormously from having an ongoing connection with an author, and this will contribute to their creative language skills and appreciation of literature.
