St Aubyn's busy bees!

In May, six St Aubyn’s pupils accompanied by Headmaster, Mr Blom and Year 3 teacher, Mrs Luscombe, took a trip to Whipps Cross University Hospital in East London to present a cheque to staff on Acorn, the children's ward.

26th June 2019 — Earlier in the term, the children had taken part in a spelling bee and raised an amazing £4,480.

Mrs Luscombe explains, "the spelling bee competition was a challenging but fun experience for all the children and the overall winner was Aaliyah. The Middle School Council gathered children’s ideas before voting for the charity they wished to support. This local children’s ward has provided care for many children including pupils from St Aubyn’s. The School Council felt that this would be a very deserving cause and were excited at the prospect of being able to help them. The staff on Acorn ward have already decided that the money raised will be used to repair a broken bridge in the ward’s outdoor playground."

Aaliyah said, “We are looking forward to coming back to Acorn ward again soon to see the new bridge in action, once it has been repaired”.
