24th November 2017 — On Monday, 20th November we were delighted to be joined by 45 members of our Dragon Community for a networking evening focusing on Law at The Law Society in London.

We were delighted to be joined by Old Dragons as well as current and former parents, all eager to share their experience of Law, and to offer help and advice to those seeking guidance. Our guests varied from recent Law graduates, undergraduates unsure of their next step, solicitors, consultants, partners, paralegals, underwriters, those with private practices and barristers.

Following a drinks reception where guests shared Dragon memories, eight Dragons then took to the ‘stage’ to share their insights into their own areas of Law. The breadth of experience on our panel was fascinating - ranging from Property Law and Mental Health Law to Entertainment Law and Criminal Law - and while our speakers were inspiring and entertaining, they were also refreshingly open and honest, offering a real insight into the practice of Law, and the challenges they have faced along the way. Guests were then invited to put their questions to our speaker panel, before the networking continued to allow time to exchange contact details.

It was a wonderful evening and we thank everyone who came along to support us. Dan Caunt, one of our panellists said of the evening “It really felt like a room full of Dragons - full of life and not afraid to be different and unconventional” Another panel speaker, Felix Zimmerman said “It was a pleasure and a privilege to take part. I have such fond memories from my time at the Dragon.”

This event was the fourth in our ongoing Arduus ad Solem: Dragon Networking series, designed to bring together the Dragon Community by focusing on particular industries. The benefit of attending these occasions, particularly at a time of starting or changing a career, is to gain understanding of an industry and forge invaluable connections with people who share the Dragon ethos and values. These events also strengthen the unique bonds of the Dragon Community.
