23rd October 2019 — The pupils brought everything from boxes of cereals and biscuits to tinned soup and baked beans when they took part in a harvest festival celebration.

The children aged from three to 11 gave the donations to support Calne Foodbank which is run by the town’s partnership of churches.

A spokesman thanked the school for its contribution and said: “The foodbank provides food for individuals or families in crisis who are temporarily without food or the means to get any.”

It asks that donations are made of tins and packets of food that will last. Items can be left at the Town Hall, Heritage Centre and at the Co-op supermarket.

St Margaret’s headmaster Luke Bromwich thanked his pupils and their parents for supporting the cause. He said: “The Foodbank does a fantastic job and we are pleased to once again be able to support its work. It is important for our children to realise there are others who are less fortunate than themselves and for them to be able to do their bit to help.”
