Rossall School recently launched three academies as part of their Da Vinci Academy initiative. The Academies will run over the course of the year and are aimed at pupils aged 8-10.

Children from across the Fylde were invited to join Rossall’s Junior School pupils for taster sessions of the Da Vinci Maths & Science Academy, the Da Vinci Drama Academy and the Da Vinci Astronomy Academy.

The Rossall Da Vinci Academy has been created to take children on a journey of discovery, expanding their horizons whilst developing collaborative skills through a series of activities.

Programme Co-ordinator and Deputy Head (Teaching and Learning), Ms Dina Porovic, commented: “We aim to establish a reputation for providing skilled teachers to encourage and stimulate children to develop and nurture their love of learning.”

Children who attended the launch were treated to free workshops in Maths & Science, Drama and Astronomy from the inspirational teaching staff from Rossall and the School's resident Astronomer, Dr Nick Lister.

The headmaster of Rossall School, Mr Jeremy Quartermain added: “This new initiative is just one aspect of our extensive outreach programme which we have designed in order to enrich the lives of young people on the Fylde Coast. These masterclasses and workshops will celebrate the joy of working together to learn and we hope to inspire a lifelong interest in maths, science, astronomy and drama.”

The Rossall Da Vinci Academy classes, which are free to attend, will begin officially on Saturday 8th February and run throughout the calendar year. All Academies are now full and operating a waiting list.
