14th November 2017 — Barfield School in Farnham joined the Cothill Educational Trust in 2016. As part of the Trust’s charitable efforts, each of the 6 UK-based schools will host its own Charity Day at some time during this academic year. The theme of Barfield’s Charity Day was The Three Peaks Challenge with the children being involved in various running, swimming and climbing challenges,
The Three Peaks Challenge involves climbing the highest mountain in each of England (Scafell Pike at 978 metres), Wales (Snowdon at 1085 metres) and Scotland (Ben Nevis at 1345 metres), giving a grand total of 3408 metres. Between them, the children covered a staggering 269,884 metres which is the equivalent of scaling the mountains of The Three Peaks Challenge over 79 times!
Thanks to the generosity of family and friends who sponsored the children, the Charity Day raised over £2,750 for Place2Be which is the UK's leading children's mental health charity, providing in-school support and expert training to improve the emotional well being of pupils, families, teachers and school staff.
