The Hawthorns School

This year The Hawthorns School in Surrey has broadened its sports provision and as part of a dynamic and current programme of sports and activities, children in Year 5 upwards will now learn four team sports in games lessons.

This spring will see girls from Years 5 to 8 taking part in football training and fixtures, and in the Summer Term, girls from Year 1 upwards will enjoy playing cricket. The broadening of the sports provision at the School reflects the changing face of woman's sports; football is now the biggest female team sport in England and women's cricket one of the fastest growing sports in the UK. In turn the School is also increasing the breadth of sports provision for boys, with all Year 5-8 boys now participating in hockey training and fixtures.

Sport plays a large and important part in the life of a pupil at The Hawthorns. We believe in 'Sport for All' and the broadening of the sports provision gives an even wider breadth of opportunities so that each child can feel sporty.
