23rd March 2021 — The Governors of the Dragon School in Oxford have announced the appointment of Emma Goldsmith as Head from September.
Emma has enjoyed notable success as Head of Winchester House School, having taught at Oakham School and Rugby School before becoming Deputy Head at Bloxham School.
Educated at Durham Johnston Comprehensive before reading English at the University of Manchester, Emma is Vice Chair of the exams board ISEB and an active ISI inspector.
Andrew Webb, Chair of Governors at the Dragon, said: "Emma brings a wealth of teaching and leadership experience and we are excited by her deep understanding of the needs of pupils and their families.
"Her knowledge of both prep and senior schools will be invaluable in ensuring the Dragon remains at the forefront of prep school education."
Emma Goldsmith will be the 12th Head of the Dragon and the first woman to lead the School in its 144-year history.
She succeeds Dr Crispin Hyde-Dunn who has overseen many innovations during his time at the School, not least the successful launch of Dragon QUEST, the school’s popular Saturday enrichment programme and the introduction of flexible boarding options.
Commenting on her appointment, Emma Goldsmith said: "I am thrilled to be appointed as Head of the Dragon, it will be a privilege to lead this extraordinary school.
"The future is full of possibilities and I am looking forward to meeting the children, staff, parents and ODs over the coming months."
