14th June 2019 — On the last Friday of the half term break, six out of eleven gold and silver award winners in the Scottish Mathematical Challenge headed to Heriot-Watt University for a prize giving ceremony and talk on game theory. Dr Mark Wilkinson introduced the subject of probability and spoke about how mathematics is used to predict gaming outcomes. He also delved into the work of John Nash, whose life was immortalised in the film ‘A Beautiful Mind’.

We were delighted to have so many medallists this year; long may this continue.
