A really exciting opportunity to join the senior team at a top prep school that is being almost completely rebuilt with state-of-the-art classrooms and facilities.

Located in a leafy suburb of Nairobi, Peponi House is highly regarded and educates almost 400 children aged 6 to 13, from a cosmopolitan mix of local and expatriate families. Noted for the quality and breadth of its education and for its busy, bubbly atmosphere, Peponi prepares children for entry to its sister senior school some 30km outside Nairobi, as well as to leading boarding schools, primarily in the UK. The school’s motto, “A school of many nations, a family of one” sums it up perfectly.

A new Head, Neil Price, is taking over in September and we are now seeking an energetic enthusiast to work closely with him as Deputy Head – Pastoral. The school’s vision is to be “the best prep school in sub-Saharan Africa” and the substantial investment in new premises and resources underlines the Board’s commitment to this goal. There is a comprehensive strategic plan and the school is aiming even higher in all that it does.

Neil is looking for someone who will be as excited by this as he is. The role is one of two Deputy posts and involves broad leadership across the full range of school activities. As Head of Pastoral Care you’d be building on the ethos and values of the school community and creating even more exciting personal development opportunities for the children.

You must be dynamic and enthusiastic, a first-class teacher with all-round experience and fresh ideas that you are keen to turn into even greater things. The successful candidate could be a current Deputy or similar, or you might be an aspiring senior leader who is ready for the next step, or you might even be an experienced Head who wants to get back to doing more with, and for, children. Whatever your precise background, Peponi House will give you scope and encouragement.

In return we are offering the chance to enjoy great job satisfaction and achieve a better quality of life in a wonderful location. Nairobi is a bustling city but the school is in a quiet and green suburb and you’ll have easy access to countryside. The Kenyan coast and mountains are world-class destinations. There will be an excellent reward and relocation package, including a quality house and a fully expensed car.

If you’re excited by the sound of all this, please download the briefing brochure and the application form. We’ll be happy to answer any questions you may have and the brochure gives contact details for enquiries.

Closing date for applications: 11 am on Tuesday, 18th February. We’d welcome earlier applications, of course.

Interviews: For UK candidates: during the week of 2nd March; for Kenyan candidates, in Nairobi, during the week of 24th February; for those elsewhere, Skype interviews will be arranged at a mutually convenient time.

Peponi House is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. Applicants will be subject to child protection screening, including checks with past employers, the UK Disclosure and Barring Service and/or authorities in other countries
