We have vacancies for Matron’s Assistants to work flexible hours in our boarding houses Mondays – Friday between 8.30am – 3.00pm, mainly during term-time.
The successful candidate will join a team headed by two resident Houseparents, House Tutors, Resident Matrons and Matrons’ Assistants to help look after approximately 90 pupils within the boarding house. Duties include the sorting, checking and repairing of pupils’ clothes and laundry; assisting the on-duty Matron with pastoral care duties and administering medication under supervision (for which training will be provided).
For the time that COVID-19 is prevalent, the post holder will be required to carry out their duties in line with the school’s various policies and procedures in place to manage COVID. This may include being an initial point of contact for a pupil who may present with COVID symptoms and ensuring the welfare of pupil groups in isolation within a boarding house awaiting the test result of a group member, but not caring for any pupils suspected or confirmed to have COVID infection.
Sensitivity, good organisational skills, flexibility and the ability to work with others are essential to carry out this role, as is being able to use a sewing machine.
