The postholder will take responsibility for several classes across the age and ability range and, the ability to teach Classical Civilisation and/or Greek is not essential, but would be desirable.
A demonstrable passion for the subject is essential. The Department is a member of the Gloucestershire Classical Association which runs an excellent program of Classical events. Our pupil-led Classics Society meets for presentations each half term; regular contributors to the Society qualify for a Classics Tie. In recent years, we have run a one year ‘Elective’ course in Ancient History for interested Lower Sixth, and a Sanskrit club has taught pupils the basics of a third ancient language.
This post would suit equally an experienced teacher looking for a new challenge in a vibrant department, or a teacher beginning his or her career.
As well as offering opportunities for pupils to develop, the successful candidate will show an enthusiasm for their own professional development and will wish to contribute to College’s rich co-curricular programme.
Lessons: 12 periods per week (0.44 FTE)
Salary: College has its own salary scale above the national average.
