Warminster School is a boarding and day school for boys and girls aged 3-18 in the South West of England, comprising a pre-prep, prep and senior school. Warminster is a first-rate school with impressive pupils and an excellent staff. It is an ambitious and forward-thinking school, yet proud of its heritage and ethos.
Our aim throughout is to offer our pupils the very best all-round education. Such an education combines several key components: excellent pastoral care, first-class teaching and facilities, and a wide range of co-curricular activities and opportunities. All children enjoy and are good at something, and a school's job is to help them find and nurture it. Similarly, the professional expertise of the teaching staff means that there is continual encouragement of academic aspiration and a love of learning. Although all young people face an unpredictable world, there are certain timeless aspects of a genuine education. At our School there is a strong emphasis on character and values and we want our boys and girls to leave Warminster as well-rounded, well-mannered, self-confident, articulate and fundamentally decent people with a sense of duty and integrity. They should possess important life skills such as emotional intelligence, persistence, optimism and resilience. Please do come and visit us to experience it for yourself.
Year 6 Warminster Prep pupils have been writing to their heroes.
12th February 2016 — Year 6 Warminster Prep pupils have been writing to their heroes as part of their English curriculum.
The children thought about who inspired and admired them. Many chose to write to famous footballers, pop stars and even Sir David Attenborough. They have been eagerly awaiting replies, and this week a letter came through the post for Maddie Dempsey with a royal seal of approval.
Maddie had decided to write to the Queen as she is now our longest reigning monarch. Maddie has always admired the Queen and sacrifices Her Royal Highness has made for her country and people. She was truly delighted to receive the response from the Queen's Lady in Waiting as she opened the envelope in front of friends at the Prep School. This is a letter she will treasure for many years to come.
Pupils have also received wonderful letters back from JK Rowling, Bear Grylls, Mike Brown and David Attenborough.
Stephanie Sheppard, Head of Prep English said, "The art of letter writing seems to be a dying art as we increasingly rely on emails and texts. However, there is nothing nicer than receiving a letter through the post and here at Warminster Prep we ensure that children know how to write formal letters. The children enjoyed the anticipation of awaiting responses and were all excited as theirs arrived in the post."
