We have been educating boys to the highest standards for 140 years. We are unashamedly a boys' school giving pupils the chance to achieve great results as well as enjoying sports and activities every day. Art, Sport and Music are very popular and each year boys achieve many scholarships to the top UK day and boarding schools. We can find and develop the individual gifts and talents of every boy.  In 2015, we opened a new purpose-designed Pre-Preparatory School for childnre aged 4 - 7 years which also welcomes girls as well as boys.

About the school

Lockers Park offers an excellent education for boys and girls aged 4 – 7 years, and to boys only from the ages of 7-13.

With an established heritage of over 140 years, Lockers Park offers a first class education, holds traditional values dear and infuses this with modern practice. We are proud of our deservedly high reputation for being a school with strong results but also where the welfare and happiness of the children is at the heart of all we do.

Our emphasis is not just on academic excellence, but also pastoral care and extra-curricular activities and we believe that this is summed up best by our school motto – good results, good manners and good fun.

The Preparatory School (7 – 13 years) is firmly committed to a boys-only education as we believe that older boys thrive, both educationally and socially in a single gender environment.  Small classes of up to 16 is a hallmark of the School, enabling every boy to reach his full potential, and Lockers Park has a long tradition of preparing boys for the best of British and independent schools, via Common Entrance and Scholarships.

The Pre-Preparatory School, with its purpose-designed building, modern facilities and dedicated staff, complements the Prep School drawing on the long established ethos and values that make Lockers Park unique. The Pre-Prep welcomes both boys and girls giving parents the opportunity to educate them together throughout the early years.  Boys will move onto the Prep School in Year 3 while girls progress to a range of local girls’ and co-ed schools.

Scholarships, Bursaries & Fees

Lockers Park offers Scholarships for boys with academic, musical, sporting, or all-round ability.

In addition to our normal entry procedure, we have a more competitive day when scholarships and bursaries are awarded by the Governors of Lockers Park for boys with particular academic, musical, sporting, artistic or all round ability.

Scholarship Days are held in February each year when we offer a number of scholarships and bursaries for boys who will be over 7 and under 12 on the following 1st September.

The academic examination will consist of an intelligence test and papers in English and Mathematics which are designed to assess academic potential rather than attainment. This is an opportunity for boys of well above average intelligence to excel and hence gain a reduction in the fees. Boys offering music, art or sport will be required to take the same tests, but greater attention will be paid to their particular skills and they are asked to bring any relevant instruments or equipment. All round talent will be taken into account, including areas not specified, e.g. design or computing. Samples of such work are invited for consideration.

The Governors are willing to consider increasing any scholarship or bursary in the event of financial need. In such cases, parents will be required to complete a means test form.

Admissions Process

Children may enter the school at 4+ starting in the September term but we are also very happy to receive children at 5 and 6, and boys at 7, 8, 9, 10, 11+, subject to availability, and find that they settle in quickly and easily.  Entry in January and April is also possible.

There is no entry exam but children entering the Pre-Prep (aged 4 – 6 years) will visit the School to spend a day or half day with their new class.  For Years 3 and above, boys are required to have an informal interview and simple academic assessment.  This is not competitive, but will ensure that the boy will cope with all that the School has to offer.

For the more academic, there is a Scholarship Day in early February for boys joining the main Prep School (Year 3 and above).
