For decades the school has been renowned for its family atmosphere, small class sizes, and fulfilment of individual potential and academic success. Homefield establishes a safe and happy environment, with a real depth of specialist teaching. Values drive our organisation and that shines through, whether it is the good manners of the boys or the decisions we make over what we teach and how we teach it.
Our well-rounded boys go on to some of the very best senior schools in the country. We cultivate their personal interests and passions; whether they are artistic, linguistic, sporting or social. Our academic success and scholarship rates are exceptional.
About the school
Homefield as one of the oldest preparatory schools in England is a school for boys aged 4 to 13, and 60 staff. It is housed in an extensive purpose-built complex with well-equipped science laboratories, large Art, DT and Music suites, complemented by a spacious Pre Prep Department, a well-resourced Computing Department and a two-acre adjoining playing field.
Founded 150 year ago, in 1870, Homefield has its roots in the 19th century and its branches in the twenty-first. The School has cemented its powerful academic reputation by continuing to achieve a 100% pass rate at Common Entrance to 46 senior schools over the last 15 years. Every year scholarships are won to senior independent schools for academic, musical, sporting, artistic and all-round accomplishment in the last three years. The school is currently undergoing a £7 million building project to create a new classroom block, performance hall and dining hall.
Throughout the school's development it has been very careful to preserve the original family ethos and intimacy, together with its reputation for academic excellence, the breadth of extra-curricular sporting, musical and artistic provision and first-class pastoral care. We pride ourselves on achieving fulfilment of individual potential, the openness of communication, the provision of specialist teaching at the earliest appropriate opportunity (French, ICT, Music and Sport from the Foundation Stage), our commitment to best practice and all-round academic, musical, dramatic, sporting and artistic achievements. “Pupils make a strong contribution to their learning through their highly motivated and enthusiastic attitudes. The quality of pupils' achievements and learning is excellent.” (ISI Inspection, March 2013.)
The school has county or national representatives in table tennis, squash, tennis, athletics, swimming, soccer, rugby, cricket and chess.
Awareness of others is encouraged and the boys are involved in many fundraising charity events. A wide range of opportunities are available to extend gifted boys and learning support is available for children with special needs.
We offer academic, sporting, art and music scholarships as well as occasional bursaries.
Daily minibuses run to and from the Wimbledon area, Wallington and Worcester Park.
Breakfast and after school clubs are available.
