Hallfield School
Hallfield is a leading co-educational day preparatory school for 558 children aged between 3 months and 13 years. Set in a 20-acre campus in leafy Edgbaston, just two miles from the centre of Birmingham, Hallfield is a Christian School (Church of England) which actively welcomes children from all faiths.
About the school
Since 1879, Hallfield School has offered an exceptional education for boys (and since 1995, boys and girls) which makes it the leading preparatory school in the Midlands and possibly the country. It is now a flourishing and highly successful co-educational day school.
However, the success of a school should not be judged simply on academic results. To the contrary, the School has always nurtured a strong hidden curriculum which cannot be measured by league tables where courtesy, manners, self-discipline and respect are valued and reinforced. It is this strong hidden curriculum which underpins everything that takes place at the School: happy children are successful children.
The School's aims are clear and concise:
In February 2016, the Early Years Foundation Stage was inspected by ISI. The setting was assessed as ‘outstanding’ in all four areas of learning and, as a result, the overall effectiveness of the setting was assessed as ‘outstanding’.
There is something for everyone at Hallfield, but high standards are expected in everything the children take part in. Excellence and success are celebrated at every opportunity through Year group or School assemblies and, of course, the end of year School Prize Giving.

Our community at Hallfield is at its strongest when it is both diverse and comprising children for whom our school will prove a benefit. We are dedicated to building an environment that is the best it can be – so that every Hallfield pupil can fulfil their potential. That’s why the Governors at Hallfield are committed to broadening access to the School. An important means of doing this is the means-tested financial support we offer, which is designed to assist with the payment of school fees. Such support is available to eligible parents of children entering Years 3 to 6 through the Assisted Places Scheme. Entry is only in the Autumn Term and children are assessed in the January prior to entry. If you have any questions at all about our Assisted Places Scheme or would like to know more about the application process, please don’t hesitate to contact the Admissions Manager on 0121 410 6706 or admissions@hallfieldschool.co.uk.
