About Sibford School

Sibford School has, from the outset, been a centre of educational excellence. Over the years the school has undergone many changes and developments as it has adapted to meet the needs and aspirations of its pupils. However, there is one factor that has remained constant in the life of the school, our Quaker values.

Children can join Sibford School at any stage in their education experience, right from the very start, as reception class pupils, through to sixth form students. We offer a broad and balanced curriculum, which reflects our view that while some may have a talent for mathematics, science or history, others may be gifted in the arts, horticulture or sport. Sibford is an academically strong school.

We achieve excellent results at GCSE, AS and A Level and aim to cultivate a thirst for life-long learning. But we don't just want our pupils to succeed academically; we are also passionate about their long-term mental health and emotional well-being. At junior level, this means giving them space and time to enjoy their childhood. And, as they get older, it means helping them to become rounded, community minded, confident and respectful young people, ready and able to meet the challenges of the 21st century.

Weekly Boarding

As well as offering day and full boarding, we have revised our weekly boarding option. This option works well for students who have a lengthy daily commute to Sibford School, but still want to travel back home at weekends. Students have the option to arrive on Sunday night or Monday morning and depart on Friday afternoon or Saturday morning.

From September 2019, we have updated the weekly boarding options that we offer. Students can now regularly stay for one to five nights a week, meaning the school can work effectively around family life and work commitments. More information can be found here:

Occasional boarding

This boarding option means pupils can board for the occasional night if they wish. The cost of £65 per night includes 24-hour care, full board with meals and bed linen.

Deposit and Fees

A deposit of £500 should be paid to the school on acceptance of a place. This will be held for the duration of your child’s time at the school and will be refunded when the final fee account has been paid. In the case of pupils living outside the UK a deposit equivalent to one term’s fees is required.

Fees are payable three working days prior to the beginning of term. An interest charge of 5% will be made on all outstanding accounts after this date unless special arrangements have been made in advance. Where special arrangements have not been made, any pupil whose fees are still outstanding by the beginning of term may be asked not to attend school until such time as their account is cleared in full.

Charges for extras appear on the account for the following term. Please note charges in excess of £25 will require parental approval.

Scholarships & Bursaries

Sibford awards General Academic scholarships as well as subject specific scholarships for Art, Music and Sport. Scholarships consist of a maximum 10% discount on fees which may be supplemented by a means tested bursary. Scholarships are made for the following Year Groups:

  • Senior School - for entry to Year 7 (offered until the end of Year 11)
  • Senior School - for entry to Year 9 (offered until the end of Year 11)
  • Sixth Form - for entry to Year 12 (offered until the end of Year 13)

Sibford School also offers a limited number of means tested bursaries to both Quaker and non-Quaker families. Further details are available on application.

Admissions Process

Application to Sibford School is through the completion of the appropriate application form. Applications for registration may be submitted at any time during the academic year, although early submission is advised to avoid disappointment. Upon receipt of an application form, your child will be invited for a taster and assessment.

The best way to capture the atmosphere of Sibford and to see the school in action is to visit in person and we would warmly encourage you to do so in advance of submitting an application. Open Mornings offer the chance to hear a presentation by the head, Toby Spence, and to enjoy a tour of the school. Dates are published on the website and also appear in the local media. If these dates are not convenient, or if you would prefer an individual appointment with Toby Spence and/or with other senior members of staff, please contact Elspeth Dyer, Admissions Officer, who will happily arrange a mutually convenient time and date. Elspeth can be reached via direct line 01295 781203 or email
