Leweston awards scholarships each year for Academic Excellence, Art/Design, Music, Drama, Equestrian, Pentathlon and Sport at 11+, 13+ and 16+. We may also supplement awards with further financial assistance based on your family's needs though a means tested bursary.
Scholarship Dates 2020 Entry
Closing Date for 11+ and 13+ Applications – Friday 10 January 2020
11+ Scholarship Assessment - Monday 3 and Tuesday 4 February 2020
13+ Scholarship Assessment - Monday 27 and Tuesday 28 January 2020
Leweston offers a limited number of means tested bursaries to families from a broad range of income levels. However, for our bursary programme to be truly effective and to aid as many deserving families as possible, it is expected that families will make their children's education a financial priority. Bursaries may take a variety of forms. Examples include a percentage of tuition or boarding fees, a proportion of the difference between tuition and boarding fees, and a fixed sum.
To find out more about Scholarships and Bursaries please contact the Admissions Team on 01963 211015 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
We accept applications year-round for entrance when space permits, and students can enter the school at different levels. We look forward to working with you through the admissions process.
Step 1. Request information
Please contact our Admissions Team on 01963 211015 or email@example.com for a prospectus and/or any other information that applies to your family and we'll be happy to help.
Step 2. Arrange a Visit or Attend an Open Morning
Please join us for one of Open Doors events with a student-led tour of the school and an opportunity to the Head, staff and see our facilities. Open Doors are an excellent way of getting a feel for Leweston and for seeing the school ‘in action’. We also would be equally happy to arrange an individual visit or would prefer a more ‘one to one’ introduction to Leweston.
Step 3. Register
If you wish to secure a place for your child it is advisable to register them with the school. A registration form can be requested from the admissions team. The registration fee for the Senior School and Sixth Form is £100. The registration fee for the Junior Department and Nursery is £75.
Your child can start at Leweston anytime from Nursery right up to Sixth Form. As the process and entry requirements vary from year to year, please refer to the detailed information below.
Nursery (ages 3 months to 4 years)
Leweston's Nursery is open from 8am to 6pm and for 50 weeks of the year (we close for a week at both Easter and Christmas). We also offer a breakfast club which runs from 7.30 to 8am. The Nursery takes babies as young as 3 months and they will stay in the Nursery until the move through to Reception at age 4. Following your visit we strongly recommend that your child has a 'settling in session' in the Nursery, this will give you the chance to talk through your child’s routine, likes and dislikes with our Nursery staff. We also recommend you register your child as early as possible as sessions get very full.
Preparatory School (co-educational from Reception - Year 6)
Whilst pupils normally start in the Autumn Term, we do have vacancies available at other times of the year. Following your visit we will invite your child in for a ‘taster day’ during which they will sit an informal assessment administrated by their Form Teacher who will meet you at the start and end of the day along with your child’s ‘guardian angel' (another pupil in their class who will look after them for the day). A place is offered following their taster day and assessment. If your child has a favourite subject or activity please let the admissions department know and we will do our best to plan their taster day accordingly.
Senior School and Sixth Form (diamond model Years 7 - 13)
Leweston Senior School accepts pupils from ages 11 to 18. Entry is normally at age 11 into Year 7, at age 13 into Year 9 and age 16 into Year 12, although pupils are accepted into any year group if appropriate. Year 7 entrants are invited to our Activity and Assessment Day in the Autumn Term preceding entry. For other years a taster day will be arranged at your convenience. All prospective pupils will sit our school entrance assessment - three short tests in literacy, numeracy and perceptual reasoning. For Prep School candidates, we mark Common Entrance 13+ papers; however it is not a requirement for entry. We do not provide past papers.
In addition to the above, entry into the Sixth Form at 16+ is dependent on six good passes at GCSE and is at the absolute discretion of the Head. Overseas students can arrange to be tested at their current school. We will also require a satisfactory reference from the Head of your child's current school.
