St Christopher's

Day London

At St Christopher’s, we aim to create an environment which we believe gives our girls the best possible opportunity to develop and flourish. It is a dynamic, child-centred place where girls can discover their meaning, identity and purpose alongside rigorous academic preparation for a wide range of senior schools.

I would hope that when you visit, you will find our girls have a natural confidence in themselves and a refreshingly open minded attitude. They are encouraged from the outset to think creatively and independently, make bold decisions and develop a love of learning.

The girls move on from St Christopher’s well prepared and equipped with secure foundations for life at senior school and beyond.

We would be delighted to welcome you to St Christopher’s. Simply contact our Registrar, Jessica Haydon, to book a visit.

About St Christopher's

If you believe that children should experience a superb education that allows them to be challenged yet have fun, that encourages them to be confident as an individual yet understand how to play their part in a team - and if you think that curiosity, flexible thinking, resilience, initiative, perseverance and respect are important qualities for children to develop – then do come to visit us and experience firsthand what we have to offer.

St Christopher’s aims

- To achieve high academic standards by encouraging independent learning in a stimulating and child-centred environment that fosters our pupils’ ability to take their own decisions

- To integrate creativity in all its aspects across the curriculum

- To instil an atmosphere of mutual trust, tolerance and friendship centred around respect – for self, for each other and for the community and environment in which we live and work

- To help our pupils develop over time into responsible, self-confident and aware young people, ready to embrace the challenges of secondary education and the modern world beyond

- To engage with and support the wider community in which the school is located through charitable work, providing access to the school’s facilities and resources and providing financial assistance to those who may not otherwise be in a position to benefit from a St Christopher’s education

Fees

Fees include tuition, in-school visits and speakers, external non-residential trips, lunches and text books. Fees exclude the cost of externally managed after-school clubs which are optional, but we provide some clubs at no costs for all year groups every term managed by our own staff.

Scholarships & Bursaries

St Christopher’s School is a registered charity and offers a limited number of means tested bursaries or fee discounts to pupils according to need. Fee discounts can be up to 100% of fees. Bursaries are awarded to families whose financial circumstances mean they would not otherwise be able to attend St Christopher’s.

The school welcomes applications for Bursaries on entry at Reception, Year 1 or at any other occasional entry at the School’s discretion. Bursaries are also considered for existing pupils where their family's financial circumstances have changed. Bursary funds are limited.

Parents and guardians must complete a declaration of their income, assets and expenditure with supporting documentation and this will be reviewed as part of the assessment. The assessment will include a home visit from the school’s appointed representatives. Following receipt of the independent report, recommendations will be made to the Governing Body and decisions will be communicated by letter from the Bursar at the same time that school places are awarded.

Once a bursary award has been made, it will be subject to annual review.

Please see St Christopher’s Bursary Policy and Bursary Application Form on the website for further details.

If you would like to apply for a bursary, please speak to the Bursar, Mrs Ghosh on 020 7433 6901, or email her at: bursar@stchristophers.london.

Admissions Process

St Christopher's welcomes approximately 26 girls into Reception each year and approximately 14 additional new girls into Year 1. All prospective pupils' parents attend a tour initially and registered children are invited to an assessment in the January preceding the year when they would start in Reception.

Our assessment team review girls in a range of age-appropriate scenarios including group interaction through play, puzzle solving, and assess each child's willingness to learn and confidence to express themselves.

We offer places at the end of January and maintain a waiting list each year. We have a sibling policy which means that all siblings are welcome.
