Cranford House Senior School

Cranford House Senior School

Day Oxfordshire

One of the UK's leading small independent schools, Cranford House is a co-educational all-through school situated on the Oxfordshire-Berkshire border. We offer a vibrant education to girls and boys aged 2-18. Rated 'Excellent' in all categories, our school specialises in academic achievement, outstanding pastoral care and extra-curricular opportunities for all.

About Cranford House Senior School

We have an excellent reputation for providing pupils with a balanced, all-round education within a warmly nurturing environment. At Cranford House, places are not offered due to academic ability alone. Our school is a place where children with a whole host of interests both inside and beyond the classroom thrive. We aim to provide a well-rounded, opportunity-rich education to children ready and willing to make the most of it. Set in over 14 acres of rural South Oxfordshire, our aim is to encourage pupils to achieve their full potential, becoming motivated, confident and happy individuals, recognising the importance of respect and support for others, but ready to seize life's opportunities.

In our Senior School, pupils follow a common core curriculum, before choosing their GCSE subjects. The academic ambition we foster in our pupils has led to Cranford House being ranked in the Top 5 schools in Oxfordshire for our GCSE results.

Our pupils belong to a House system and, on reaching Year 11, enjoy further positions of responsibility and privilege. We are delighted that we will be opening our own on-site Sixth Form in 2020, complete with bespoke Sixth Form building, lab and study rooms.

The school has extensive games fields, a brand new Sports Hall, a swimming pool and an all-season astroturf. Dramatic, musical and dance productions are an important aspect of school life and our emphasis is very much on both inclusivity and the celebration of excellence. Our superb extra-curricular provision delivers a wealth of enriching opportunities to students right across the school and pupils have the opportunity to join educational trips, expeditions and excursions. Our own School Minibus service operates over a wide area.

Scholarships and Bursaries are offered for Year 7 entry to the Senior School - please see our website for more details.

Admissions Process

At Cranford House, places are not offered due to academic ability alone. Our school is a place where children with a whole host of interests both inside and beyond the classroom thrive. We aim to provide a well-rounded, opportunity-rich education to children ready and willing to make the most of it and it is this fit that we seek to identify during the admissions process. Prospective pupils are not expected to prepare before our entry assessments and the process is designed to allow everyone the chance to showcase their talents, abilities and enthusiasms.

The Year 7 admissions process begins with a series of Senior Experience Days in the Summer Term of Year 5 and Autumn Term of Year 6.

To discuss Admissions, please contact our Registrar, Mrs Alison Young, on ayoung@cranfordhouse.net or 01491 651 218.
