About Portland Place School

Portland Place School is a leading independent co-educational day school for children aged 10-16, located directly in the heart of the City of Westminster. It was founded with a particular purpose in mind: to be an alternative to the intense, large, examination focused independent day schools of which there are many in London.

The school ethos is to be small, nurturing and inspirational, encouraging and enabling our pupils to achieve their very best academically, with space to develop and express their creativity and athleticism.

With a high record of an overall 92% pass rate at Grades 9-4, The Good Schools Guide describes us as ‘small, nurturing and refreshingly relaxed. A haven of creativity in the pushy, academically competitive world of London day schools. A place for engaged, lively kids.’

You can visit the school on one of our morning tours, or simply make an appointment to see the school and Headmaster at a time and date convenient to you.

Portland Place School is part of the Alpha Plus Group of Schools.

Application for Year 6 for September 2019 entry will remain open throughout the year. Please contact our registrar at admissions@portland-place.co.uk or by phone on 0207 307 8700 for further information.

For In-year admissions, contact our Admissions Office to request an individual tour of the school. Your visit will be followed by a meeting with the Headmaster.
