Please note that lunch fees are included in the prices above.
A term's fees may be paid in a lump sum payment before the first day of term or, subject to a separate contractual agreement for that term, in four monthly instalments. Fees should be paid by direct debit. If you suffer a downturn in your financial circumstances while your child is at school, please contact the Clerk and Treasurer at the earliest opportunity, who will be sympathetic and may be able to help.
Every child stays for lunch, which is compulsory and is included as part of the school fees as outlined above. Meals are prepared on the premises and we provide varied menus to accommodate all tastes and diets. You are welcome to discuss any special dietary requirements with the Director of Catering.
Scholarships & Bursaries
From September 2015, a number of new Scholarships became available to pupils entering the Girls’ Division in Year 7. These generous Scholarships are not means-tested and are awarded to those girls who, we believe, will make a strong contribution to the academic and wider life of the School.
The Scholarships are offered at the discretion of the Headmistress following the Bolton School Entrance Examination and Interview.
Further information and application forms to sit our Entrance Examination are available from Hannah Caulfield (email@example.com) on 01204 840201 or by visiting the web page: www.boltonschool.org/entrance-examination.
Bolton School is a fee paying school, but financial support may be available through the Bursary Scheme. The School has worked hard to raise funds for the scheme to enable talented youngsters whose parents would find it difficult to pay fees to attend the School; currently more than one in five of the pupils receives some form of fee assistance.
All bursaries are awarded on academic merit. They are means tested and available to a proportion of the entry at Years 7 and 12; in rare instances, some funding may also be available to applicants to other year groups. Financial support for a limited period of time may also be found for current students whose parents suffer subsequent hardship.
Enquiries about financial support can be addressed at any time to Miss Charlotte Nightingale, the Bursary Officer, on 01204 840201 ext 329, or contact her by email firstname.lastname@example.org.
We are looking for bright, well-motivated girls who will make the most of all that an education at Bolton School has to offer.
To gain a place in Year 7 your daughter must first reach the appropriate standard in the Entrance Examination which is held in mid-January each year.
All applicants to the Girls' Division must complete an application form. It is included with the prospectus and can be ordered by contacting Miss Hannah Caulfield on 01204 840201 (e-mail: email@example.com)
Before applying, parents are advised to read the Admissions Policy, which includes details of provision for SEND, EAL and detailed information about our Entrance Testing Day, Interview and Offer Process.
Year 7 Entry
All applicants to Year 7 sit our Entrance Examination in the January before they wish to join the School.
There will be four components to the examination, set by GL Assessment comprising:
a verbal reasoning test
a non-verbal reasoning test
a mathematical reasoning test
an English reasoning test
Each of these tests is designed to test "innate" ability. Practice papers are available from any good bookshop (look for GL Assessment 11+ practice papers).
As an indication of the required standard, we would normally expect your daughter's teacher to be predicting Level 5 in the Key Stage 2 SATs test.
Girls who do well in the Entrance Examination will be invited for an interview, which will take place in late January or early February. The interviews are used, along with the Headteachers' reports and the Entrance Examination performance, as a means of assessing the applicants. Subsequent to the interviews, and in agreement with the Manchester Consortium of Schools, offers of places are then posted at the beginning of March.
Entry into Years 8-11
Depending on the migration of pupils, places are sometimes available in other year groups. For further information and an application form for entry into the Senior School please contact Miss Hannah Caulfield, the Headmistress's PA, on 01204 840201 or at firstname.lastname@example.org.
