At Attain, we take our environmental responsibility very seriously and try to ensure that the production of this magazine is done in a way to minimise its impact on the environment.
The magazine is printed on paper where the pulp is chlorine free and is part of the FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) forest management certification scheme. The paper holds the EU Ecolabel and ISO 14001 environmental accreditations. The inks used for printing are vegetable-based, derived from soya and rape seed. The seal used on the front cover is water-based.
We have reduced the use of plastics by eliminating the use of shrink-wrapping when the magazine is distributed to schools. For subscribers, the magazine is sent in the post with a compostable starch film covering. This contains potato and maize starch and it can therefore be reused to line a food waste bin or put in a compost heap.
Attain is printed by Pensord in South Wales who have a long-standing commitment to both environmental and corporate social responsibility. Pensord have made significant investment in energy efficiency in their production facilities and, in 2012, they achieved 'zero to landfill'.
